3 weeks prior to treatmentAvoid excessive sun exposure or tanningUse an SPF 30+ zinc oxide or titanium dioxide based sunblock. This should be applied thoroughly to all areas intended for treatmentAdditional sun protective measures such as a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and sun protective clothing will help to protect your skin before and following your treatment.
1 week prior to treatmentExfoliants (scrubs, washes and other treatments that remove the outermost part of the skin) should not be used in the week prior to treatmentIf you have just started using topical tretinoins such as cosmetics containing Retinol A, in the last month, you will be advised to discontinue useMoisturise either by using a quality non-irritating and unperfumed moisturiser day and night, or a water-based masque daily (we can recommend skincare products from Image skincare should you need additional products)Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day and avoid types of food and drink may cause dehydration
On the day of treatmentDo not wear any make-up and do not use mascaraNo perfume or cologne to be applied to the treatment area
Post treatmentYour treated skin may feel warm like mild sunburn for several hoursYou will be advised to keep your skin dry and not to apply any creams for the first 24 hoursFlaking is to be expected approx. 48 hours after treatment and this may continue for 2-5 days, do not pick at the skin and be gentle with it. Following the flaking process, remember to apply your SPF 30+ to decrease the possibility of hyperpigmentationAs a general rule, 2-3 days after treatment you can return to wearing make-up and shaving. This will depend on whether you had low or high level treatmentIf you are having lips treated, please refrain from wearing products on your lips for the first 24 hours, with the exception of Image MD Collagen lip or Ormedic balancing lip balm
