Wrinkle relaxing injections block the chemical in your skin responsible for muscle contraction, thereby temporarily smoothing out wrinkles. At Skin Southwest, we use all brands of botulinum toxin including Botox®, a naturally occurring protein from the bacteria clostridium botulinum.

A full medical history is taken for anyone contemplating anti-wrinkle treatment at Skin Southwest. You will be required to fill out a medical form to rule out any conditions that might contraindicate the treatment. The vast majority of healthy people, who are not pregnant or breastfeeding, are suitable.
Generally, the effects from wrinkle relaxing treatment last on average four months, although this can vary from one person to another depending on their metabolic rate, stress levels and if they are on certain medications.
It is common to see small raised bumps at the injection sites immediately after your treatment, but these should go down within 20-30 minutes. It is also quite common to experience a mild headache and, in certain cases, very mild flu-like symptoms. These can be treated with over-the-counter painkillers.
It normally takes around 10-14 days to see the full results of your treatment. Occasionally, you may require a top up injection at your two week review appointment. The overall result is a fresher, more relaxed face.
If you have treatment for excessive sweating, you should notice results within a couple of days.
It is recommended that you wait until your previous treatment has worn off before having any more wrinkle relaxing treatment. We can combine this with other treatments, such as facial fillers, to make your skin look even younger and fresher.
