Acne Scars

Even after the acne has been treated it can lead behind scars and uneven skin tone. We have the experience to be able to offer you the best skincare solutions, leaving your skin glowing and flawless.

    What is acne?

Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition characterised by spots called blackheads, whiteheads and pustules which can appear on the face, back and chest. Although harmless they can cause much distress and in some cases leave scars called pick-axe scars which look like tiny indentations in the skin.

Acne usually starts in puberty and tends to resolve by the early twenties. However in some people it can persist throughout their 30s and even 40s. Indeed some people who have never had spots and pimples in their youth may develop them in adulthood. It has been noted in individuals that have a lot of stress in their lives.

    What causes acne?

People who get acne are sensitive to a hormone called testosterone, which is present in both men and women. This causes their sebaceous glands to produce too much oil. In addition, the dead skin cells lining the pores do not shed properly and clog up the follicles. The build-up of oil within the follicle creates an ideal environment for the acne bacteria (P-acnes) that lives on the surface of the skin to multiply. This triggers inflammation and the formation of spots.

Acne is often hereditary but can also be a symptom of a hormone imbalance caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome, stress or a poor diet.

    What treatments are available?

A patch test is required 7 days prior to a full treatment, this costs £45.00 and will be redeemed against your 1st treatment.

Advanced Skin Peels are effective for treating:

    • Uneven pigmentation
    • Melasma
    • Sun damaged skin
    • Acne
    • Acne scars
    • Rosacea
    • Enlarged pores

    How does it work?

tpp_-before_and_after_01Our Advanced Skin Peels are highly effective resurfacing treatments that use a combination of acids including Trichlororoacetic Chemical Acid (TCA), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Mandelic and Retinol to exfoliate the skin and improve cellular synthesis (the production of new skin cells). The Perfect peel also contains glutathione ( incredibly good for anti aging) and vitamins and minerals.

The mild trauma caused by the peels forces the skin to repair itself and produce collagen – what this means for you is softer, smoother, more radiant skin with a reduction in acne and pigmentation.

Which Peel is right for me?

Image skincare peels offer bespoke couture peels that are tailored to the individual.

    Light – moderate peels

Mandelic Acid (MA) – This type of peel is used for treating Rosacea, chemoexfoliation of sensitive skin and it a great peel for refreshing the skin all year round.

Glycolic Acid (GA) – There are varying concentrations of these chemical peels and generally used for mild-severe hyperpigmentation and photoaging.

Pyruvic Acid ( PA) –This type of peel is used for Seborrhea and moderate photoaging.

Salicylic Acid ( SA) – This chemical peel is for mild-moderate comedonic and inflammatory acne localized on the face. We also carry out an SA peel on the back for patients that have the same conditions on the back.

Alphahydroxy Acids (AHA) – such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can’t spare the time to recover from a phenol or TCA peel. AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Alphahydroxy acids, such as glycolic acid, are often mixed with facial washes or creams in lesser concentrations as part of a daily skin-care regimen to improve the skin’s texture.

EL Peels – Indications: mild actinic keratosis, hyperpigmented lesions, mild – moderate photo and chrono aging around the eyes.

    Medium to deep peel

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) – TCA can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems are commonly treated with TCA. We can also treat severe hyperpigmentation and severe post acne scars with a Strong TCA peel.

TCA and Lactic Acid ( LA) – This type of peel is wonderful for hyperpigmentation localized on the periocular (around the eyes) and labial (around the mouth) areas. It is also excellent for photoaging and actinic keratosis in these areas. We can also use this type of Chemical Peel for hyperpigmented lesions on the back of hands.

Pyruvic (PA) & Lactic Acid Peels (LA) – These types of peels are for neck and décolletage (chest) areas where there has is hyperpigmentation, chrono aging and photo-aging of these areas. Pyruvic Acid Peels can also be used to treat
Indications: seborrhea, comedonic acne with concomitant seborrhea, actinic keratosis of moderate severity, mild and moderate chrono and photo ageing. Possible complications: swelling, erythema, herpes and bacterial infections, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (usually temporary.
PA peels are a MEDIUM DEPTH PEEL

Jessners Peels – This is a medium – deep depth peel. Indications: comedonic and inflammatory acne, hyperpigmentation, actinic keratosis, general hyperkeratosis, chrono and photo ageing. Possible complications: erythema usually of short duration (3-4 days), dry skin. A sensation of itching and burning of medium intensity can be felt by the patient during the application.

Possible complications: rare. Mild erythema may occur immediately after the chemoexfoliation, but is of low intensity and short duration.

The Perfect Peel blends glutathione, kojic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent and proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. TCA, phenol and retinoic acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems, while salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. Alone the ingredients are powerful, but in combination they produce results that are astonishing.

    What does the treatment involve?

The procedure involves applying a chemical solution to the area of concern. The solution dissolves dead surface skin cells revealing a new layer of skin that looks fresher and more youthful.

    Does it hurt?

No, although you may experience a hot, tingling or itchy sensation once the solution is on your skin. This is completely normal and should subside quickly.

What will my skin look like afterwards?

Your skin may look sunburned for a few hours and you may experience some mild peeling which could last for several days. After treatment it is important to take extra care in the sun, wearing a sunblock with an SPF30 or above.

How long before I see results?

Results for the Perfect Peel are usually seen after 7 days but the maximum effect after 28 days. Results for the Image Peels are visible immediatley

What are the risks and complications?

All non-invasive procedures carry a small amount of risk which is why they are only administered after a face to face consultation Dr Pradnya during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

    Intensive Serums

We use 3 intensive serums during the treatment, and if needed, we also apply a soothing, calming mask. You need to allow 2 hours for each treatment.

Skin needling works through two modes of action

The needles penetrate through the skin to provide micro-channels to maximise the absorption of the
topically applied skincare product. The micro-channels induce independent stimulation of new collagen
and elastin synthesis, resulting from the skin’s natural healing response. Ultimately, skin strength,
